The brand plans two more properties in Sub-Saharan Africa: one in the Ngorong-oro Conservation Area; the second, a beach resort on the island of Zanzibar. Opening dates for the two upcoming properties weren’t disclosed. Blackstone inks deal for Apple REIT Six B y B ruCe S erlen NEW YORK—When an affiliate of The Blackstone Group agreed to acquire Richmond, VA-based Apple REIT Six, Inc. last month for approximately $1.2 billion, it was the third major lodging industry acquisition by a private equity firm announced since May. Hilton Expands in Egypt Hilton Hotels & Resorts, based in McLean, VA, will open its second hotel in Al-exandria, Egypt. The brand signed a management agree-ment with Delta for Tourism & Hotels Company to open a new 158-room, conversion property, the Hilton Alexan-dria Corniche. It is expected to open in 2013.
